In my Report, dated the 12th April, 1969, I drew attention to the presence in amphibians, in Hongkong and neighbourhood, of Haemosporidia - namely Dactylosoma and Drepanidium. In that Report I found it impossible to make any definite statement regarding their life history, their relationships to each other, and their behaviour when preserved, in culture media outside the body of their host. The opinion was expressed, however, that, in all probability, the parasites were distinct, and that the Dactylosoma might have as a phase of its life cycle, or be a phase in the natural development of, a trypanosome. During the past six months, a number of observations and experiments have been made with the edible frog and the so-called rock frog.
